Canadian Athlete Family Program (CAFP)

In 2010, Canada sent its greatest athletes to Vancouver and Petro-Canada hosted their greatest fans: their families. During the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games, every athlete on the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic team had his or her very own cheering section thanks to Petro-Canada’s Canadian Athlete Family Program (CAFP).

The Petro-Canada Canadian Athlete Family Program (CAFP) was part of Petro-Canada’s grassroots commitment to Canadian sports, with the aim of ensuring that athletes from across the country feel a sense of community support by having their families in the stands to cheer them on at the 2010 Games. Because of the Canadian Athlete Family Program for the first time ever, two family members of every Canadian athlete were hosted at both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Accommodations, meals, ground transportation, clothing and gifting were all provided as well as tickets to watch the events in which “their” athlete was competing.

There wasn’t a better way to celebrate Canadian athletes than by providing their families with the opportunity to share in the experience!
