Countdown to 2010

Petro-Canada Family & Friends Reception
A standard gala at all Paralympic Summer and Winter Games, this reception is a chance for the Paralympic Athletes, CPC, and our Partners to acknowledge the continued support and encouragement from the many family and friends throughout the years of training, competing, planning and commitment for these Games. Since the 2006 Torino Winter Paralympic Games, Petro-Canada has been the official sponsor of this event.

During the Vancouver/Whistler Paralympic Winter Games, the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) and Petro-Canada will be hosting receptions for the Family and Friends of Canada’s Paralympic Athletes. Athletes, officials, and coaches are also invited to the reception so this may be an ideal time in which to visit with your Paralympian outside of the competition and within the Games timeframe.

Please NOTE: the Family & Friends Receptions are events held separately from the Petro-Canada Canadian Athlete Family Program (CAFP). Therefore:
  1. If you have registered with the CAFP, you will be required to also RSVP for the reception if you wish to attend; OR
  2. If you have not registered with the CAFP, you are more than welcome to attend the reception and will be required to RSVP your attendance as well.

Whistler Canada Paralympic House

The home of the Canadian Paralympic Committee during the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games will be Whistler Canada Paralympic House (WCPH). Located in the Whistler Public Library (4329 Main Street, Whistler), it will operate from 5 p.m. until midnight on March 13, 14, 16, 18 and 19. WCPH will be closed on the 15th due the Family & Friends Reception.

On March 20th, WCPH will be open beginning at 12 noon and we will be airing the Sledge Hockey and Wheelchair Curling gold medal games. Come ready to cheer for Team Canada!

Competitions will be broadcasted on large screens throughout the house and it will also be the home of the Petro-Canada Dream Big Café. Light snacks, beer, wine and juice will be served throughout the evening. Two computer stations will be available and free wireless internet will also be provided so feel free to bring your personal computers, if you would like to.

Entrance and access to Canada Paralympic House will be limited to guests of the hospitality program, friends and family of competing athletes and Team Canada members, members of the Paralympic family and Canadian VIPs. WCPH will be open to pre-registered guests only. To gain entrance you will also need official government issued identification (e.g. driving licence or passport).

To register for WCPH, please visit the F&F Reception invitation web page on the Special Event tab of this website and follow the RSVP instructions accordingly.

**Please NOTE: capacity is limited to 350 people at any given time. Therefore, registration does not guarantee entrance if Whistler Canada Paralympic House is full.

We look forward to seeing you at Whistler Canada Paralympic House!
